U3A Course on Optimal Ageing – 2023

In 2023, Hunter Ageing Alliance ran a U3A course on Optimal Ageing. 65 participants enrolled and attendance was almost 100% on all days. The course was held in May, June and wonderfully organised by U3As Jenny Williams.

The content is described below.

Session 1

Principles of Optimal Ageing – Dr John Ward, Geriatrician

Nutrition for Optimal Ageing and a healthy microbiome – Dr Katherine Brain, Nutritionist, University of Newcastle; and Natalie Stackhouse, nutrition and dietetics student researching the microbiome.

Managing the stress of older age – Assoc. Professor Michelle Kelly, University of Newcastle
