Welcome to the winter edition of the Hunter Ageing Alliance (HAA) newsletter.
2024 has certainly been a busy and productive start to the year for HAA. In March, we proudly opened the Seniors Information Café at Thomas St Belmont, inside the Home Instead Office, opposite the Coles carpark. This café is designed to be a welcoming haven, offering a friendly chat, connection opportunities, and valuable resources for all seniors.
HAA once again attended and supported the City of Newcastle Seniors Week events, which were a resounding success. In April, the Hunter Community Alliance was formed, uniting our community in purpose and advocacy. We’re also thrilled to announce that, thanks to the dedication of the HAA team, new outdoor exercise equipment aimed at seniors will be installed at Wickham by the end of 2024 as part of the Active Stronger Better Outdoors initiative. Additionally, the Active Stronger Better (ASB) program continues to expand, with over 50 classes now available across Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, and the Hunter. The ASB team has also trained over 40 Fitness Leaders who are now ready to provide classes.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to deepen our engagement with the community through various upcoming events and programs. Our commitment to enhancing the lives of seniors remains steadfast, and we are continually exploring new opportunities to support health, wellness, and social connections. Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for being a valued part of the Hunter Ageing Alliance community.
Together, we can make a positive difference in the lives of seniors across our region.
