Join the Hunter Ageing Alliance for a fun and engaging public seminar on physical activity.
Learn about the importance of exercise in older age and how the Hunter Ageing Alliance is supporting and facilitating this for the community. Learn about the Active Stronger Better program, the Newcastle City Council Connections for Ageing Well outdoor sessions and the outdoor Eco Fit program for seniors.
Network and chat with our community members over refreshments and meet some of our amazing researchers who are working to transform the health and wellbeing of our community.

Program
3.00 – 3.05 – Welcome from Emeritus Professor Julie Byles
3.05- 3.15 – The Importance of exercise in older age, and the goals of HAA in relation to this, with Dr John Ward
3.15 – 4.00 – Active Stronger Better – mix up of exercises and talking about the establishment of Active Stronger Better, its performance and success, and results of evaluation, with Deborah Moore and Tash Whyte
4.00-4.15 – Break for refreshments and chitchat
4.15-4.25 – Connections for Ageing Well outdoor sessions, with Emeritus Professor Julie Byles of HMRI and HAA
4.25-4.45 – Eco fit program for seniors, with Professor Ron Plotnikov
4.45-5.00 – Wrap up and close
Parking instructions: Press the button on the boom gate at the car park entry. Let them know you are here for the Hunter Ageing Alliance Seminar and then you may park in any of the free HMRI car park spaces. Please note that parking can get busy, and we cannot guarantee a park that is close to the entrance. For anyone with a mobility parking permit there are 6 spaces circled in pink closer to the entrance. Please let us know if you need to use this park and we can try to have one reserved for you.
Enter the building: via the visitor entry on the left as shown below and then proceed to Level 4 reception where you will be signed in and given direction on where to go. We will be presenting in the Haggarty room.
