Hunter Ageing Alliance Contributes to National Review

The Hunter Ageing Alliance (HAA) is proud to share that members of our Alliance contributed to the Review of the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) Dementia, Ageing and Aged Care Mission, published by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care in August 2025.

This national review assessed progress of the $185 million Mission, which is focused on improving dementia diagnosis, care, and support; extending healthy life expectancy; and strengthening the quality and equity of aged care.

By participating in the review process, HAA members ensured that the voices and experiences of older people and communities in the Hunter region were represented at the national level. Our involvement reflects HAA’s commitment to bridging local lived experience with national research and policy directions, and highlights the value of community-based advocacy in shaping ageing and aged care futures.

The review emphasised the importance of consumer involvement, translation of research into practice, and local relevance—all of which align closely with HAA’s mission to build age-friendly communities and improve outcomes for older people.
